A Beautiful Day
12" x 18", SOLD
I make a trip to Point Pelee every spring when the park is flooded with a huge variety of birds and waterfowl passing through on their northward migrations. Even without being an expert birder, I have been able to find birds at Point Pelee that I have never seen before and to take decent photos of some of them. I suppose it's a little ironic that the first painting I have made of Point Pelee features one of the most ordinary species in Ontario: the humble Canada Goose. I was drawn to paint the scene in "A Beautiful Day" because the serenity of the marsh was magnified so perfectly by the lone goose gliding past the reeds. It wasn't an exciting birding moment, but it truly was a special encounter.
