Apples have been a favourite subject for many artists over the years, but this is the first time I have been inspired to paint them myself. I spotted this pair of apples in mid-November. They were a little weathered and well past their prime, yet still beautiful. This tree is on a small farm near the edge of the city that was once a favourite local spot for apple picking. It used to be filled with rows of trees offering a dozen different varieties of apples. Just a few years ago, most of the trees were cut down and the apple picking ceased, although the farm is still there. I hope it can avoid the fate of similar properties around the city that have been overtaken by development.
