Waiting for Spring

15" x 9", SOLD
Kimberly Mitchell, Waiting for Spring, Watercolour
Spring is my favourite time of year. There's something magical about seeing the world returning to life. Sometime in March, even if winter is dragging on, there are subtle changes that indicate that spring isn't as far away as it seems. The quality of the light is somehow warmer, even if the temperatures are still cold. Trees begin to take on a tinge of colour that wasn't there before. Migratory birds begin to return. As an artist, I don't have to go far to look for inspiration at this time of year. Sometimes it's as simple as a pair of Canada geese standing on a frozen pond, glowing in the sun.
